The Role of Attribution in Learning from Performance Feedback: Behavioral Perspective on the Choice between Alliances and Acquisitions

The causal attribution of performance has not been explicitly considered in the feedback literature, despite its potential value learning from prior performance. In this study, we develop a theory concerning and explore how past alliance can influence firm’s choice between future acquisitions alliances. We also examine mechanisms by which manifests exploring three theoretical factors, known to attribution, moderate relationship - diffusion responsibility, perceived capability partners, ambiguity information. find strong evidence supporting our predictions.
